    Recycle Bin always shows full

I am on Windows Pro 64 [Version 10.0.18363.959]. Recently the Recycle Bin icon always shows full, even though I have just emptied the folder. Anyone else seeing this behavior?

If you recently had a USB HDD or Flash Drive attached to your computer that you deleted some files from and then ejected the disk before emptying the Recycle Bin, it might show as still full.

1.Go to Search and type Command Prompt right click the results and Run as administrator.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
    rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin
(This clears out the $Recycle.bin folder from the C:\ partition.)
    3. Type exit to close the Command Prompt window
    4 Reboot your system.
If this fails then do a Disk Cleanup put a check in the box to empty the Recycle Bin and all other temp files.

Personally I don't use recycle bin. Files are set to be deleted immediately without being stored there.

Anyway, when I was using it this usually fixed any issues:

Note you can also use TreeSize Free to peruse and delete the contents of Recycle Bin in admin mode

Just a little quirk of Windows becoming confused about which icon is which. Nothing to do with whether or nor the bin is empty or full ...

Start menu > Settings > Themes > Desktop icon settings > select Recycle Bin > Restore Default

(Might as well untick option Allow themes to change desktop icons, while you're there)

    Guys,

I had to do a full reboot, and now the Recycle Bin works the way it should. Go figure.

Maybe the icon just got "stuck".

Yes, this is the way to do it. Then remove the recycle bin icon from the desktop, no reason for it to be there.
