win10-64, Old core2duo 2GHz , 8G ram. 100 background processes and 150 windows processes after boot. When I click on google cpu use goes to 99%, task mgr shows 6 google tasks running. Any facebook video is buffery, any audio stream is buffery. Also seems odd to have 2 copies of some processes. Speedup tricks?

If not, how long ago did this behavior start?
Have you looked at services? I have about 253 listed; about 240 Microsoft and about 13 other
I have about 90 microsoft services running right now and 10 of the other. Total of about 100 running.
Have you:
Tested your hard drive? Tested your RAM? Turned off most or all of your startup items as a test?
Try Task Manager to see what processes are taking up the most CPU cycles after a cold boot.
Does Task Manager show a high percentage of RAM usage?
Having multiple copies of the same process can be normal. For instance I have google chrome open now and only 2 tabs open but there are 9 instances in task manager. It's normal. You can try turning off hardware acceleration in google chrome. and see if that helps. Core2 duo is quite the antiquated processor. Your background processes aren't that high. But for instance I run a custom windows 10 image on a ryzen 9 3900x and I only have 70 running processes in the background even with chrome open and battle.net open. With chrome closed what is your cpu utilization percentage in task manager?
I think it's your specs just causing the bottleneck when Google loads its processes. Post a screenshot of the Performance tab of the Task Manager.

3. Do you mean that Google Chrome is your browser? (Google is a parent corp with multiple products.)
