    SSD won't stay Optimized Win 10 (2004)

Ok, before today, after I ran Optimize on my SSD it would say, x days since Optimization.
Since the upgrade to 2004, if I Optimize it reacts as it should for about 3-4 minutes, then says: Needs Optimization.

Partitions C:, D:, and E:, are the SSD. Brand new Samsung 860 EVO 500GB.

Then ran this command from a guide: fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify
My results don't look like the results in the guide.

/e Disk activity in Task Manager is less than 1%. I'm not really worried about this (I don't think), but it is definitely behaving differently than it did on Win 10 1909.

Well, it seems this is another 2004 issue (change) w/e. Don't see a resolution yet...

It also seems like I got the proper response from fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify ...even though it "seems" backwards.

Who wants to go to Redmond, WA and start a protest?

    j/k

This is a very well known bug - known that is to everyone except Microsoft, who have yet to even acknowledge it as a 'known issue'.

The bug is that Optimise forgets when it was last run, leading to the scheduled optimisation running far too often to be good for an SSD. The actual optimisation (both defrag on an HDD and Trim for an SSD) appears to function correctly, it's just remembering when last run that's faulty.

Thanks for that link. I guess I'll just Optimize the SSD about once a month.

This is a relatively serious bug due to very poor software QA by MS

don't remember who recommended that, but a lot of us decided to let Optimize run Weekly, just omit the SSD from selected drives

Set " optimize drives " on manual, and trim SSDs once a month manual (!) .........the only way to keep your hardware ok .
MS dont give a s*** about our precious hardware.............
Take care , or MS will trim ( defrag!) your SSDs more then once a day !!
Reported many times before in several forums , to MS also .........still no solution or reply from MS .............

I know HOW to set the schedule. But with the Optimizer NOT remembering, when it did it the last time...the schedule is kind of useless.

Always backup at the end of the month ( with several backuppers , writing to external HDDs ) , before doing so , trimming my SSD first , this is a standard procedure , so will never forget.........( dont need the crappy , buggy " optimizing drives " from MS anymore !)

Same, same. Only diff is I backup whenever I'm about to make some major change. Then again, a few days after the major change, so I don't have to go through w/e the major change was... again.

I only make full OS image backups... no incremental or differential for me.

    Is this still a bug?

It was the main reason I went back to 1909. I also set feature updates to a 90 day delay.
