What's up with the recommendation not to run the script? Also I haven't done much with powershell so I don't know how to follow what you say in post #28. I see a static routes option in my router but I would have to enter in each one at a time.

It's an old post but people browsing forums just tend to click on links and download and run scripts that make system changes that might be hard to undo. That one (when I used it) blocked everything Microsoft so for example Bing would not load in a browser.

The link was posted for your information to show that it is possible to remap routing table to block MS telemetry.

Currently I don't use that method and don't see any telemetry but I do not use MS Office, Defender, Smartscreen, Windows Firewall.

So just to point out that the aforementioned Blackbird uses the same method:

Currently I only make use of it's app manager:

So what's the best way? There seems to be a myriad amount of them so which one do you recommend? Also for the static routes how do I add them using powershell? I've never done that before.

Personally I'd pay attenention to how you install windows as per that guide that I sent you. Create a local account and disable/ remove stuff that you don't need.

Once installed make a system image backup before doing anything else then you've got a working install that you can roll back to.

    Suggest Comodo Firewall:

How to download Offline version of Comodo Firewall v11

Custom install. Firewall only and decline extras (if any).

    Have a read through this:

Comodo show contained / blocked files that are still there and working

How to Install Comodo Firewall | Gizmo's Freeware

So set to "Proactive security" and disable Auto-containment, VirusScope, HIPS.

    Set to "Custom Ruleset"

In that link that I sent you go through the sections headed:

Removing Telemetry and other unnecessary services

    Scheduled tasks

Then it should take care of it but in addition you could run SharpApp and SpyDish.

In addtition consider using a third party tool to control windows updates.

    Giving up on WIN10 Home

    RE: Persistent routes.

    You open Powershell then paste.

As far as I can work out it's not neccessary to remap routing table unless you are really paranoid.

    If you get something like:

Network Scanning, Security, and Administrator Tools - Essential NetTools

you can check what is connecting.

Or you could try any number of other similar tools.

A Great, Simple Way to Decrease Telemetry & Related Functions

I have been using O&O Shutup for Several YEARS!!
I believe that it should be your Starting-Point for Blocking M$’s being able to view your docs/activities.
It is Exceedingly Simple to use, & provides an Explanatory Tooltip at EVERY Option!

But here is my very Favorite Thing About Shutup::
So, let’s say that the last time you adjusted the settings in Shutup was 6 Weeks Ago, so you Open the (UTTERLY SIMPLE) “Shutup” Window, and if Any {_ANY!!!_} Setting that you Previously made had been “adjusted” by the O.S. in the past 6 weeks, Shutup TELLS YOU Precisely what was changed (which, typically, is, ummm, NOTHING! ... But Still, ya know!)

Getting Shutup is Easy. In fact, it is a No-Brainer!!
It Hugely Reduces M$’s ability to know anything about How you are using your computer.
    Get it!!—Today!! { O&O ShutUp10 -Free antispy tool for Windows 10 }.
    ___________

One other thing about Shutup that is amazing!::
You will be able to Notice when using this Simple & wonderfully designed anti-spy tool that it’s working, ’cause almost instantly the OS itself will demonstrate that they’ve been blocked from doing stuff. For example, you visit Windows Settings or Control Panel after first using Shutup; Like, for example: the Windows-Update Advanced-Options & you will notice new messages like: “This Feature has been restricted by Group Policy” (& similar messages) — the Response in Settings is powerful & instantaneous.

    Some reading material:

Why You Shouldn’t Use “Anti-Spying” Tools for Windows 10

You might notice that I'm on 1903. I'm staying on it for now. At some point if it breaks I'll reinstall whatever the latest verison of windows is.

    @Chuck7

It looks pretty (O&O shutup) but gives a false sence of security and it does not work properly.

    Example:

On my machine Defender is removed along with Smartscreen (they don't exist).
Cortana is fully disabled along with Windows search.

O&O Shutup still offers to disable and shows them as enabled.

This is all snake oil , you cannot stop it all unless you turn off you internet connection. It is a waste of resources try to stop it. I have nothing to hide from MS, then if you use Firefox or Chrome how do you stop their Telemetry and then there is NVIDIA..

NVCleanstall helps with NVIDIA telemetry. But there is a GPO option to disable telemetry.

It is still snake oil. O & O cannot keep the NSA out of your PC or anyone else . How can you prove that NVIDIA Telemetry can be stopped. NVIDIA does not use this Telemetry for nefarious reason only to try and make their product better, The same with Firefox. I do not trust Google, there is now way to know what they do with it. There are over 139 Ways to get into your PC. I don't care what they can see on my PC, I do not use cracks, every app I have is paid for.
