HDD connected via USB - read/write speed drops to 0
Hello, I have this weird issue with a 7200 rpm SATA2 HDD connected to my newer PC (Ryzen 3600, X470) through a USB 2.0 container manufactured by STLab. Both the HDD and the container are 10 years old or slightly more.
First of all, no issues like this on my old Windows 7 laptop when connecting that via its USB 3.0 port.
But when connected to this newer PC (Windows 10 19041.388, latest Windows 7), there are huge difficulties when copying something from the HDD or to the HDD, I mean even when I try to check what's in its folders - it freezes for like 10 seconds before showing it to me. When I try to copy a file from it - it gets copied in small (less than 100 MB) parts, i.e. it starts copying, copies those let's say 50 MB of the file, then freezes for like 15-20 seconds, then copies another part, freezes again, and it's this way till it gets fully copied, the same goes for extracting archives from it - they are extracted in the same way, part after part with freezes between them.
I'm using the latest BIOS and the latest drivers (chipset, video, audio), tried different USB ports.
How to fix this?
