I guess it's not feasible then.
I wouldn't want to spend much and I wouldn't want to give up the CD-DVD burner

While someone helps me via software to solve this problem, we can try to see what pieces would be needed to transform my pc as you say (what do you say open another discussion apart?)
Lets do the basic
Open a CMD window as administrator and type:
chkdsk c: /f
It will say your disk is in use and if you want to schedule to next start = yes
Restart. Pay attention on the results, specially bad blocks, bad clusters, bad sectors etc.
Back to windows, open a CMD window as administrator and type:
sfc /scannow
Report
chkdsk:chkdsk.txt
sfc:sfc.txt
I have problem with attachments. I don't quite understand how they work
Check disk - Nessun problema rilevato. Non sono necessarie ulteriori azioni.
SFC - Protezione risorse di Windows: nessuna violazione di integrità trovata.
Your disk and system is healthy.
Download, extract and run CrystalDiskInfo It's a portable, doesn't need to install.

einstein1969, You have a good laptop and everything seems normal.
Two things to improve performance:
- Disable some startup programs. As you wrote on the first post, every time you change the operating system for a while it goes well then it always slows down. That is due to the programs you install and load on startup. Chrome is one of them. The solution is to disable this startup programs. It doesn't mean you have to uninstall them, but only avoid them to start when windows start.
- Install a SSD. As I wrote before, a SSD is six times faster than a HDD. You can replace the 1T HDD with a 1T SSD (US$110) or add a small SSD (120G - US$25) replacing the ODD with a caddy to hold the actual HDD.
You may do some things to improve your laptop.
- Run Disk cleanup (cleanmgr.exe)
- Run Defrag (dfrgui.exe)
Just to make sure your system is malware free, download, install and run SUPERAntiSpyware

Hi einstein1969,
The best advice is to follow Megahert' directions. An SSD will magically transform most PCs into a speed demon device when compared to any HDD.
One method of quickly proofing that too many programs are starting with Windows, and is causing the excessive disk activity is to try a clean boot (or could be just 1 or more programs).
Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts
First, select the start tab on your task manager, sort by status by clicking the top of the status column, expand window to clearly display all contents and grab a screenshot with Snip & Sketch, paint (save as jpg) or other preferred program. This way you will have record of the present state.
After a clean boot, you will likely see disk activity drop to a single % value. Next, start enabling any necessary programs in the start tab again, ideally one at a time. If you've already identified the necessity for many programs to start with Windows, you might enable half of them at a time while monitoring disk activity.
If the disk activity jumps up again, disable half of the last group you enabled and keep reducing by half until disk activity returns to normal.
If you require guidance on which items to keep enabled in the startup tab, post a screenshot (sorted by status) and you'll get assistance. Cheers,
Michael
I've already disabled everything not needed in startup. I don't know what else to disable.
I've already done disk cleanup and defragmentation. I use Mcfee antivirus.
If there is no software solution I have to opt for a hardware solution.
I would like to install a 240GB ssd disk and move my 1 tera hdd to the place of the dvd player. It's possible to do it? what should i buy?

Sorry but I don't understand what I have to do I have already disabled all the programs that I don't use in startup.
Actually I would also need skype and messenger, but for the moment I have deactivated them.
