Norton said to run chkdsk for errors found on hard drive!

    Running Windows 10 Home Edition version 1903 build# 18362.900.

I received a Norton yellow ! icon in my taskbar to check the performance of my computer. It said I had errors and to run chkdsk. I ran cmd as an administrator and it found a lot of errors in read only mode but stopped the scan due to the size.

What should I do now to find all of the files that it said are corrupt and how to fix them?

    Thank you as always!

See option 3 in this TenForums tutorial: Drive Error Checking in Windows 10. You want to schedule a chkdsk with the /f (fix) option to occur at the next restart or boot-up.

I ran the chkdsk with the switch as you recommended /f when the computer restarted. It still found a bunch of corrupt files and the same message that cannot continue in read only mode.

What should I do now to get this out of read only mode
I searched for cmd and then ran as adminstrator before putting in the path chkdsk /f

You did NOT include the drive!

Run this in an elevated cmd prompt . . .
    Code:
    chkdsk C: /F
    I hope this helps!

    Yes thank you it did!
When it restarted it asked for me to clik on repair or advanced repair.
I cliked on repair. After it rebooted I did chkdsk again, and it said it found corrupt files but the volume was in use, did I wish to repair upon restarting, to which I asked with a Yes.

It rebooted....how can I tell if it is now 100 fixed of the corrupt files?

I ran the Norton check drive where it first found the errors and it said it was fine.

    Run chkdsk again.

I use the /R option, because it also looks for bad sectors, and includes the functionality of /F.

    Suggestion:

chkdsk c: /R /V (with "c" being your boot drive)
The "V" switch gives you this, which I find informative -

Displays the name of each file in every directory as the disk is checked.

Run additional tests on the drive:

Run HD Tune (free version) (all drives)
    HD Tune website
Post images into the thread for results on these tabs:
    a) Health
    b) Benchmark
    c) Full error scan

HD Tune results with images & chkdsk

    Ran the chkdsk as recommended.
I didn't receive any report after it finished. The last I saw was it was in Stage 4 at about 30% done with an eta of 4 hrs. When I looked back, it had completed.
Is there any way to find out the results of this chkdsk scan?

I ran the HD Tune and here are the images:
For some reason, the error screen image that was taken is the same as the Health one.
But the entire drive was a solid green with not one area in the red.

Use the information in this link to find the chkdsk report in the event viewer.
Copy and paste into notepad > save to desktop > post into the thread using a one drive, drop box, or goggle drive share link:

The CPU usage was very high while running HD Tune.

Run the tests again while in safe mode (shift + restart).
