    Hotkey shorcuts are very slow

Shortcuts on the desktop with hotkey mapping open very slowly when using hotkey. The same shortcuts open fast if I just double click them. There was one instant when they were opening fast using hotkey. I had not made any setting changes since then, but they are no longer opening fast, so I believe the problem is tied to some periodic windows daemon.

This is rather frustrating to me since I am very much used to hotkeys over mouse clicking, especially since I don't have to exit out of the current windows in order to open the shortcuts.

I had the same problem before (Win10). Most probably, it is because a program delays Windows's handling of the hotkey. In my case, it is "Movies & TV". After stopping this process in tasker manager, the hotkey works as fast as before. You need to find out this program and then decide what to do next.

This is a longstanding issue that is known to MS upper-level support and appears not likely to be addressed.

In the search bar type "services" and <enter>. Scroll down to SUPERFETCH. Double-click it. Choose "disabled" and click on okay. Reboot. That may solve the problem for you, with no adverse effects. Some say it doesn't for them but it has here since Win 10's release.

    Hi guys,

I have found a solution to this problem that will quite probably work 100% and not cause any issues.

Go to the file properties of C:\Windows\System32\ApplicationFrameHost.exe, Security tab, click on Edit, and set Read & execute to Deny for user SYSTEM.

Do not change the rights for the other users and groups as they still need to be able to execute that file.
That's it. No more delays. Windows Update might occasionally reset those rights, so you should keep these instructions in mind.

    Happy shortcutting!
