My Dell laptop is still taking about 10 secs to login despite having a SSD drive and just being upgraded to v2004 (it was the same before the upgrade). I've disabled obvious third party stuff I don't need in Autoruns. Doing a clean boot by disabling third party service in Msconfig made no difference. What's the simplest way to track down what is causing the delay short of doing a boot trace which can be hard to interpret?
What make and model is the drive and how old is the laptop?
If you go task manager - start up tab, how many start up programs are enabled?

In addition to the above post by @swarfega, some ideas -
- Check for any Dell updates for your model and service tag on their website. Most of all ensure that your BIOS and all drivers are up-to-date.
- Download and run the Intel Driver and Support Assistant, if your system is Intel based. - Intel(R) Driver & Support Assistant
- Force a TRIM on the SSD (Defragment and Optimize drives.)
- Are you logging in to a outside domain?
- Are you mapping a Network Share?
- Try logging in with all external storage devices disconnected before power on.
- Speed of internet service and programs that depend on an active internet connection at login.
- When was the last time that the login took less than 3 seconds?
- Do you have a fully restorable backup of your system?
We can go from there.

P.S. If all the above does not help try disabling Intel SpeedStep in the BIOS if possible. You can always set it back. It may shorten your run time on battery and produce excess heat. This is normal.

- Do you have a fully restorable backup of your system? Yes, but not from before time the issue began

Also, do you connect immediately to a VPN upon login?
You might wish to look at services that are running upon boot.
Update - the boot log file shows repeat attempts to load these drivers. They are in fact loaded when I use DriverView (NirSoft).

Hello, I encounter the same problem after updating to the newest windows experience pack since I write this. Any suggestion regrading this? I tried trim, I tried disabling or safe mode, everything, stilll hellish slow. I use 860 EVO SATA, and I never encounter this kind of problem before hand..
