Smart Cleaning appears to be restricted to the Pro version; and connected with files, not registry.
You don't want Smart Cleaning. files or not. And turn off Automatic Updates, if that is in the Pro version, as well.
The program is getting somewhat bloated.

    Thanks.

CCleaner is OK, if you know to how to use it.
Just turn off all the automatic stuff.

Click Registry and Scan for Issues. Then remove the issues. Never had a problem.

    FWIW.

I agree, I have used it on all my systems for years, and I even have the portable version on a USB for when I go to clients!

That said, I do NOT use the registry cleaner part of it, or ANY registry cleaner come to that for the reasons I have stated earlier, even though I am familiar with the registry!

You just have to be careful not to hose your system. It's easier than it sounds.

Limited use only. If you fear it, don't use it.

Another one that I use, and I have done for years, is Glary Utilities!

Personally I avoid Ccleaner registry cleanup and use a manual solution with backups.

    Found items:

Check and manually delete (if you want to) or set to ignore now and in future:

Remove old items from ignore list (typically after uninstalling software)

    Undo any changes (from backup)

Bottom line: Auto clean registry? No.

Manual clean? Yes if you know what you are doing and have system image backups that you can restore.

The application that removes programs and clean the register is Revo uninstaller
I have already successfully used Revo uninstaller on a program that did not allow me to reinstall because there was still some register of the previous install.

Brilliant program, I have used it for years and wouldn't be without it.
I like the option to scan for leftover items after the initial uninstall [ using the softwares own uninstall process if one exists ] using an Advanced Scan option.
