I've posted this before but I'll post it again:

See this article for a very good, complete explanation of why Windows 10 does indeed defrag your SSD once a month and why this is necessary.

Where - I have seen no such statement. The annoying think is MS fixed this in Insider versions BEFORE 2004 was released.

That was said "...in a statement to Windows Latest..." and one would like to think it is an accurate quote, but there's still no official statement on any MS site.

It is fixed in 21H1, but MS does not care much about it. Not fixed in 20H2. Restart 1 min later: Never Run.

That is odd. Virustotal reports the file and the link as safe, but I could not upload .jpg, tenforums refused it.

It may be fixed already in 21H1 as noted by TairikuOkami, but since 2009 and 20H2 are going to be serviced by the same updates going forward, 20H2 will have the fix at the same time that 2009 get is.

    I"m getting this error:
The storage optimizer couldn't complete retrim on 4TB Originals (O:) because: The operation requested is not supported by the hardware backing the volume. (0x8900002A)

Which I presume is the same bug... 20H2 DIDN'T fix it? And 21H1, whenever that arrives WILL fix it?

    Right?

It's not really a bug, just a misplaced poorly worded error message. Simply means optimizer can't trim an HDD. Nothing more.

I've turned off scheduled Optimize because it simply does not work for me, on 20H2, and I do it manually. It works for some, not others. I'm one of the others. I stopped worrying about it and do it manually.

No crystal ball on 21H1 fixing anything.
