New Computer/New Monitor/Fast Internet - System Totally Unresponsive

    Hi all -

This is in reference to my 2nd System:
    • ASUS FX504GM-ES74
      • i7-8750H CPU @2.20GHz CPU
      • Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card
      • 16GB RAM,
      • Windows Home 1909

    • Samsung C43J890DKN ( 43" Curved) monitor
    • Download speed anywhere between 35-75 Mbps. (AT&T)

My system is completely unresponsive - it hangs frequently, especially when using the file manager. I primarily support rescue groups - WordPress website, Photoshop, social media support, etc.

To the best of my knowledge my drivers are up to date and I defrag on a regular basis. Every app runs incredibly slowly and every so often I get the BSOD. I use DropBox and have shares to many other accounts as I support a lot of groups but my files aren't changing constantly. I'm mostly working in Chrome or Firefox - even they hang most of the time.

Please, please advise. Thanks in advance!

If it's brand new and not working, I would send it back before working on it!

Open (if you can) an administrator command prompt

type in SFC /scannow (it will take a few minutes) if errors found repeat. a second time.
then type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth (will take a few minutes)

    reboot after

    Hi Jaycee -

Thanks for your advice. I believe in a Win 10 problem, not a HW problem. Should that be the case there would be nothing to prevent this from happening with a new system. Also - it's been a steady deterioration in performance - it's too late to return it.

And I'm really hoping to not have to rebuild it although I do have a lot of spare time these days!

Thanks for looking at my post!

An in place upgrade repair might be the simplest answer:

So far so good! The system seems noticeably faster and has not hung for the last 10 minutes. I will keep the post open for the day and report back later.

Thank you everyone for your support!

Looking up that mobo for system 2, everything indicates that it's a laptop. Do you have the right mobo listed in system 2?

So it found some corrupted files. Better run a check disk to see if it has no issues.
Open a CMD window as administrator and type:
    chkdsk c: /f
It will say the drive is in use and if you want to schedule to next start = Yes
    Restart
