    Hello @Hemimax,

They all run OK on your last post.

At the top of the screen it shows C:\Users\Richard.
Your Desktop folder is C:\Users\Richard Max\Desktop\.

    Batch Scripts / Programs.-image.png

Do you know why? That was created by one of those scripts. I can just delete it, right? It's just a file that says "cannot find the path specified" over and over.

    Hello @Hemimax,

I do NOT understand that because I hardcoded your Desktop Path into the code as per here . . .

    Hemimax said:
    "C:\Users\Richard Max\Desktop\test.txt"

I tested it using my hardcoded UserName and it worked. I also tested it on TWO other computers, which it also WORKED.

I think it has got to be something to do with your setup, whether it be to do with your UserName, Paths, or something else. As I said previously, I have NOT had a problem with the file before.

At least you have the information that you wanted from the CMD Prompt.

I will have a look at the above code at some stage to see if it is also compatible cross-platform [ Runs on Win 7 & Win Vista ].
If it is not, try the following code:
    Code:
    For /F "tokens=*" %%# in ('"PowerShell (New-Object -ComObject Wscript.Shell).SpecialFolders(4)"') Do (Set "[X]=%%#")
Echo The desktop folder is "%[X]%" & Pause> nul
    Download: Get_the_desktop.bat

Hm, that space between Richard and Maxx may have something to do with the problem...Ususally usernames consist only of one word...
My above code works with a folder name consisting of two words, two spaces, and an ampersand. See below:

Who is thana, and what has this got to do with this thread?
thana = bug locker, whose desktop path includes a junk character. See: I cant run DISM and sfc from Win PE.
