    how to know the hostname from ip in local network


    I would like to have a batch file that give me the hostname of all machines in local network in file with the format: hostname: ip.

    Hi Paul, just to confirm the only way to allow a bat file to download is to turn SmartScreen off & on?

    Yes.

    Have a look at this => Turn On or Off MS Defender SmartScreen for Apps and Files from Web in Win 10

    Thanks, I tried everything, looks like turning it off is the only way to not get the .crdownload file

    Edit: I figured out SmartScreen it just took several steps to complete the download

    Very strange, I have never had anyone have a problem with that file. They are just standard commands!

    I just downloaded the actual file and ran it and it was fine. I will try and have a look at it later for you.

    @Paul Black It looks like the batch didn't find the right path to the desktop. I noticed that you used a for to check the path in the registry in "User Shell Folders". On my friends computer, he had the desktop saved in onedrive, but when I check the registry it says the desktop is on "%userprofile%\desktop" but there is nothing in there.

    My conclusion on this is that the "User Shell Folders" is not completly trustable to get the desktop path....
