The schedule in Optimize drives never works

    Hello!

I've set it to optimize or trim my SSD everyday and increase priority if three consecutive scheduled runs are missed but it never optimizes it. It just plain doesn't work.

It's been like this for years and I never can get it working how come? Running version 1909.

The records are kept in Event viewer, Application log, Sources - Defrag, Defrag-Core

Hi, you might want to learn more about trim, SSDs, and then relax. It's both simpler and more complex- and best not to lose sleep over.

Here's a starter for 10, starting with a very similar concern:
How to schedule trim for SSD. | Tom's Hardware Forum

And here's some more solid technical stuff:
What is SSD TRIM, why is it useful, and how to check whether it is turned on | Digital Citizen

Should be this scheduled task - if you rt click it, can you run it manually?

I pointed you to the records first because I think it is important to set the scene correctly.

If you are going to check if Trim is enabled, use Enable or Disable TRIM Support for Solid State Drives - TenForumsTutorials because it is up to date [unlike many other online articles - there has been a change in Windows' responses to Trim checking commands and few have been amended to reflect the change].

If it proves relevant, I would point you to some or all of the info in my SSD trim-defrag ditty - TenForums

But first, what do the records tell you?

    @klappa -

This thread ties into yours. I can't schedule a working weekly SSD TRIM or HDD Defrag.

    Recommend Defragger for SSID?

You could set up your own weekly task in Task scheduler. For example,
    %windir%\system32\defrag.exe C: D: E: -O -H
    - The O switch tells it to do whatever is appropriate for the type of drive [trim SSD, defrag HDD]
    - The H switch tells it to run defrag at normal priority (default is low)

    That's a good idea, Denis.
