    Help - zillions of Event ID 454 errors

    Hello all. I am just sitting here stunned. I have the same error repeating over and over. I stopped counting them after 1000. My guess is that there at least 5 thousand of these things (maybe 10). Its in the Application log of my event viewer. There is one every second since 5AM EST.
    I can't find anything about it for Windows 10 so far. I'm running Windows 10 Version 1909 by the way.
    Here is a copy of one:

    Help - zillions of Event ID 454 errors-event-id-454.jpg

    And here is the XML View of this error:

    - <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">
    - <System>
    <Provider Name="ESENT" />
    <EventID Qualifiers="0">454</EventID>
    <Level>2</Level>
    <Task>3</Task>
    <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords>
    <TimeCreated SystemTime="2020-04-27T22:24:20.895493800Z" />
    <EventRecordID>41956</EventRecordID>
    <Channel>Application</Channel>
    <Computer>Removed</Computer>
    <Security />
    </System>
    - <EventData>
    <Data>svchost</Data>
    <Data>4504,R,98</Data>
    <Data>SRUJet:</Data>
    <Data>-509</Data>
    </EventData>
    </Event>

    I have no clue what this means. If it was only a few of them I wouldn't be here. However, there are literally thousands of them. I really hope someone can help or has seen this before.
    Let me know if there is more info I can give you.
    Del.

    I don't see how that applies to what I posted.
    There are 1000's of this same error. The errors are not DCOM or even a 10016 event.
    Plus, I am ignoring bunches of DCOM errors already.
    Del.
    Lets see, one happens every second for 19 hours and its still going. My 5 - 10 thousand estimate is only off by approximately 50,000 or so. This can't be normal and safely ignored like the link you posted for me? Can it?

    Alrighty then!

    No expert here, but I think you have something else going on here !! Those are not DCOM errors obviously. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will help you sort it out. Good luck !

    Since the "errors" appear in the Application log, check to see what 3rd party programs start with Windows and disable them one at a time to see if they are generating the error.
    Also you could see if removing/ uninstalling/ unpairing things like printers, external drives, Bluetooth/ wireless keyboards/ mice etc (also one at a time).
    See if a safe mode start eliminates them (you will need your Windows logon password, not your pin).
    The fact it occurs every second seems to suggest it is an application/ driver constantly checking or polling for a response and not receiving one, it could be a poorly written driver/ application or maybe something you can change in the settings of such to at least reduce the number of events.

    If it's writing to the Application event log every second then it should be fairly easy to spot using the free, portable Sysinternals/Technet Process Monitor.

    Hope this helps...

    Hi delcarto

    Did you try the link in post #4 by Ray14120? It's older but appears related.

    It was suggesting the error is a result of an anti-virus program scanning the ESENT files making them unavailable. The recommendation given was to disable the anti-virus program and recheck for errors.

    I'd reboot after disabling the anti-virus and then verify after restart that it remains disabled. If it fails to remain disabled after a restart and it's a free version, just uninstall it for the test. That sounds like a pretty quick and simple.

    Hello folks. Sorry I could not get back on here sooner.
    Thank you for all the responses and ideas. Very much welcomed here.
    After I signed off last night, I ran SFC, DISM and chkdsk. Also a virus scan. I had already ran these tools recently but I ran them again. My PC has been suffering multiple problems for the last month or so. Part of the issue was traced to some RAM problems. I removed the suspected sticks of memory. That definitely helped but didn't solve everything. Seems like every other day is a different and newly encountered issue.
    So far, since last night, I have not seen the same error again. However, since the pattern of thinking I have solved one problem and having 2 more issues pop up, I am not convinced that I have seen the last of this. I mean 50,000+ errors just disappeared so my confidence is low. I will keep this thread open for now. Plus I will be making a mental note about the suggestions you have all given me.
    Hopefully, I'll be back with good news soon.
    Thank you,
    Del.

    Hello. I just wanted to follow up on my last post. I ended up reinstalling Windows 10. Twice! But, the errors I posted about are gone now. Thanks to all who replied. I still have a few issues that might require me to come back soon. However, I will start a new thread when I do.
