    Best/Quickest method of transferring files.

    Good afternoon,

My Brother-In-Law has several external HDD's which he wants to organise.

He wants to copy folders, and sub-folders from one location [F: for example] to another location [G: for example].

Would it be quicker to do this using the CMD prompt in Safe Mode using Copy, XCopy, or RoboCopy please?

    Thanks in advance.

    Paul,

It would be quicker and less prone to mistakes if he did it by having two File explorer windows on screen so he can drag from one to the other.
    - I always arrange the windows so I am dragging from the right-hand window to the left-hand one. I find it harder to mess things up that way round so I suggest he does the same.

Safe mode is irrelevant to such a task.

    I'm sorry but I disagree.
    - RoboCopy is very capable but requires a lot of studying.
    - I use it a lot but cannot see why it would be the "best" solution for this task.

    For info
You can see RoboCopy Help by entering
    robocopy /?
in a command prompt and can save that Help as a text file by entering this
[using a path of your own choosing in place my my D:\Desktop]
    robocopy /? >D:\Desktop\RoboCopy.txt

There are many online guides for RoboCopy including
    Robocopy - SS64
    RoboCopy - MSDocs
