How often should I run System File Checker (sfc scannow) ?

Running scannow before restorehealth is useful in accessing the state of the operating system.
For example, the first scannow may display unable to fix.
After running restorehealth it may display found problems that were fixed.
Then the second scannow displays found no integrity violations.

Performing in this order gives you a better status of the computer environment as you work up computer problems.

Most of us check the CBS and or DISM logs only when problems are not fixed by the usual commands.

I'm wondering if it is possible (or even advisable) to schedule sfc /scannow, and if yes, how often should it be done?

There are TF scrips that can be run anytime.

I also run dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth and sfc /scannow after every CU.

I only run it when it feels like things aren’t working as they should.

i would only run it if something were broken. I don't use it for any type of "regular' maintenance routine.
