Autoruns / .arn files / How do you "apply" them?

    I'm running the latest:

    Microsoft Windows
    Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.752)

I posted this on the Microsoft page:

Autoruns stops just short of doing what you think it will do.

I think I can figure out how to edit the Registry, but, I'm thinking that there has to be a program like Autoruns, that will let me stop and start my Startups and Services, in bulk . . . am I right?

Hi .arn files- have you tried File, Open in Autoruns?

I think I can figure out how to edit the Registry
Editing it and understanding what you're doing are two different things- beware. Back up. Always back up. And use disk imaging routinely- System Restore my fail unexpectedly when restoring.

    Basic guide:

a program like Autoruns, that will let me stop and start my Startups and Services, in bulk
    In bulk??

    dalchina,

What is this 'Pro' version? I cannot find any MS reference to it. The only reference I can find is in the page title of that HTG article.

No idea- I just quoted the article. I don't think it's a product- more the theme of the articles - headed 'like a pro'. (See the blackboard).

'one' refers to the book/guide of course. Great range of free software, so make money on publications...

I have used NirCmd to automate a few things.

Unfortunately, I don't see how to tab down into the x's in Autoruns to do Tab, Enter with NirCmd, to un-check and re-check items . . . But if I'm doing this under Logon, Explorer, and Services, this would be complicated to do.

So now I'm thinking, what if I just automated a series of generic mouse clicks starting at the top, going down the rest of the screen? How could I do this . . .

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Figure out the distance to the first check mark, and then between check marks.

PicPick, Pixel Ruler . . . Help you measure the size of objects and place objects in precise locations on the screen. Support horizontal and vertical orientation, units (pixels, inches, centimeters), DPI settings (72, 96, 120, 300), skins . . . PicPick - All-in-one Graphic Design, Best Screen Capture Software, Image Editor, Color Picker, Pixel Ruler and More | PicPick - All-in-one Graphic Design, Best Screen Capture Software, Image Editor, Color Picker, Pixel Ruler and More

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Use NirCmd to click from the first one at the top, to the bottom of the screen - It wouldn't matter if nothing were there:

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

    NirCmd Command Reference - movecursor . . . movecursor [X] [Y] . . . move the mouse cursor. The [X] and [Y] parameters specifies the number of pixels to move. Example: movecursor 10 10 . . . https://nircmd.nirsoft.net/movecursor.html

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

    Use "click"

    NirCmd Command Reference - sendmouse . . . https://nircmd.nirsoft.net/sendmouse.html

sendmouse [right | left | middle] [down | up | click | dblclick]
    sendmouse [move] [x] [y]
    sendmouse [wheel] [Wheel Value]
Sends the specified mouse event to the system. The operating system will behave exactly as the user really made the specified mouse action.
Heres some example of sendmouse command:

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

. . . then, Autoruns will think that I did it, and I can get close to how I think it should work.

Wait, I think all I need is:
    sendmouse [move] [x] [y]
    sendmouse | click

If you are to be successful I think your best chance will be by using NirCmd SendKey / SendKeyPress commands to move about the AutoRuns window
sendkeys tab to move between tabs
sendkeys up or down to move up or down
sendkeys spacebar to select / deselect items
sendkeys alt-key with letters to manipulate the menus

I do wonder if using AutoRuns command line version might be better but I have never used that.

I still don't understand what you are trying to achieve
    - AutoRuns affects what happens at the next reboot.
    - You seem to be trying to stiffle some services but have not said which ones or why.
    - I don't know if you have tried using the computer with thse services off to check that it works correctly.
