A quick and dirty little boot speedup

1. I thought GP Editor was not available on windows 10 Home
I know it can be enabled and policies changed, but it is my understanding that in those circumstances they are not actually effected.

On 10 Fast Startup as I understand it
- when you click Shutdown from the right click of the Start icon is a hybrid shutdown of your PC by logging you out of your user account and then hibernating the computer.

You can of course even on Windows 10 Home and without the added GPEditor which I think as I said above has the limitations mentioned still enable hibernation.

You will see on the tutorial below by Brink (Admin) the change to such using regedit and as I stated above I do not think that the added GPEditor in 10 Home, or perhaps I should say - the added ones I know of - actually make that registry key change.

I presume that I am correct in thinking that the OS concerned is as posted

Disable Shut Down, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate in Windows 10

In all version including Home you can enable hibernation from a Command Prompt (Admin) with powercfg /hibernate on then show Hibernate on the power menu with Option 1 in this tutorial.

And, as I have laptops, you could do as I used to do and set them to hibernate when the lid closes.

But 10-20 seconds to resume still feels too long fo my purposes, so these days I set the lid close action to Sleep. Even a 'spinner' will resume in a couple of seconds. To save the battery, I set the power options to hibernate after a number of hours asleep.

This May Not work with WiFi, depending on your interface and WiFi router, and or what programs you leave open.

All my machines are on WiFi, always reconnects whether resuming from Sleep or Hibernation.

On my Win10 desktop, I just put 'er to sleep when I would normally shut off. Talk about instantaneous bootup. Also, of course, this has stopped those irritating Win messages saying "Windows was Not Shut Down Correctly" in Control Panel/Maintenance/Reliability History.
