Automatic repair loop. Bitlocker or drive problem maybe?

My windows 10 desktop froze and after some time of waiting, I did a hard shutdown. It then went into automatic repair and wouldn't fix the issue. I tried restarting and that didn't work, and I'm now in a restore loop. I tried restoring to a restore point, but I couldn't click next and then tried it through command prompt and it came back with an error. I then tried clearing CMOS and turning off fast boot in the bios, but that didn't work either, and everything appears normal in the bios.

Upon further investigation and trying different things, I kept seeing errors that seemed to be with read and write errors. When I ran check disk it, it didn't work because it said it was write-protected. I encrypted the drive with bitlocker a few years ago, but I think I got rid of it rather than just disabling it. When I did manage-bde X: -status, it said that it couldn't be opened by bitlocker maybe because the volume doesn't exist or because it is not a valid bitlocker volume. This makes me think it isn't a problem with bitlocker, but I don't know what else could cause these particular problems.

The only thing I know of that I haven't tried yet is to do a complete reset, but since the partial reset (keeping documnets) didn't work, I wasn't sure a full reset would work and I would like to try something else before going to that option.

    Welcome to the TenForums @sethc1

Think it is important to determine if this is bitlockered or not. I don't use bitlocker

    With this boot disk
Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk

You should be able to open a common document type like pdf or txt to see if it is bitlockered.

At a minimum, with boot disk, if your system is not bitlockered, you should be able to copy data off before a complete reset / clean install.

I recognize this is after the fact but I would start to Image System with a third party tool. Lots out there, many members use Macrium. Free and I've found it to be quite reliable.

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect
