So you've been able to change the boot order now? If so, it seems your bios settings work slightly differently fro my Toshiba's bios.
You should still have the boot menu alternative with F12, which you may find useful.
Tested the F2 access with the Rescue disc (Macrium Reflect), it works now.
Question: would the F12 alternative still work even if the OS for some reason wouldn't?

F12 gets you a one-time boot menu where you can choose any available device (so plug in the usb or put in the CD before powering up and using F12). This is a function of the BIOS, so does not rely on there being a working OS installed.

If the pc BIOS is set such that the very first device to boot from is a usb stick, what happens if there is no usb stick ?
Will it “automatically” go to the second device (presumably a normal boot) ?
Thanks,
