Is this what you have now:
    DDR3 ADATA 1866 8GB AX3U1866XW8G10-2X

Kingston doesn't have a 1866 on the QVL though it should work. Better to stay with one from the QVL.
I'd go with two new matched 8GB DIMMs rather then try to run along side the existing ram.

Your system specs don't seem that bad to me. Are you sure it's hardware and not your Windows installation? When was last time Windows was installed clean?

On the other hand, adding more RAM never hurts.

I was thinking of buying this, what are your thoughts?
It is not the same brand as my other ram, which is why I’m going to replace my old ram with this. I tried to find my original ram but it’s either sold out on websites or just not there. This hyperx ram is compatible with my motherboard, I made sure of it, and it has good reviews.

There is always the chance that this ram will work alongside my other ram, so I’ll give it a shot.
Whatever it is, *NOT* from Amazon (or EBay). Might be valid/legitimate software but not to be purchased from these sites.

Your PC is fine. If anything, I would get a SSD if you don´t have one already.

I did a fresh install of windows recently and I made sure to get the drivers for my motherboard. I’m gonna order it from the hyperx website to be safe and I have an SSD card. Thanks for all your help guys. I’ll post again once I’ve installed the ram.

Hello Amanda welcome to the TenForums....The thing about memory is you never want to mix sticks because if the sticks aren't matched pairs then your pc with revert to single channel memory which "supposedly" is slower than dual channel memory.
So if you want 8GB you need to buy 2 identical matched 4GB sticks if you want 16GB you buy 2 8GB sticks so you end up with dual channel memory.

I installed the ram and that didn't do anything to fix the fps issue, I was getting really bad lag spike still. What fixed it was reinstalling my cpu cooler and reapplying thermal paste. Now I get no lag spikes and I get a ton of fps. The fan is also producing a lot more airflow throughout my pc and it is much cooler. It is crazy how much of a difference this made. I will be honest my fan was hanging a little low beforehand, it was loose with one screw. Now it is level and that made everything better. Also, the temperatures were high for the cpu, so I assume the thermal paste made a big difference.

Your CPU was throttling itself down to keep from overheating.
