Any idea why my BIOS takes so long to load?

I jiust timed the Dell XPS 15 9500 series that I'm field testing. On a cold boot it takes 44 seconds to get to the Win 10 login screen.
This system has an i7 10750H @2.6Ghz, 32GB RAM and two 512GB SSD's

From my experience, having multiple HD's does impact on booting timing...

The only thing I have ever noticed in the past is having extra peripherals, especially USB storage devices, physically connected at boot time will drag it down. Not that familiar with the XPS.

We have a winner.

I disconnected all USB drives and BIOS start up was 9 seconds and Win 10 about the same, so about 20 seconds from switch on to log on. It will take a long time to boot as I need the HDDs, but now I know, so thanks.

I would normally have said that malware like that is the result of downloading from a source other that the authors, but I have just downloaded MiniTools Partition Wizard from the official site and it was immediately detected by Defender as malicious...




I have PUA detection enabled in Defender and it detected PUA:Win32/FusionCore

This application is a bundling software that is known to install other potentially unwanted application (PUA), such as PUA:Win32/ByteFence. It may sometimes install unwanted software such as BrowserModifier:Win32/Prifou.

This is unexpected, as up until now MiniTool Partition Wizard has been a respected piece of software and clean of malware.
