Scans and driver updates hanging

Starting yesterday morning roughly my computer has gone on the fritz for whatever reason, I am uncertain what is happening but it started with my Intel network adapter not working, Intel I219-V it no longer has a connection and I have been fighting with it to troubleshoot. My wifi adapter works fine so I know that I have eliminated it being my internet.

So I moved onto trying to uninstall and reinstalling the driver through the manufacturers website Intel, installer hangs and refuses to finish if I hit close it asks if I want to cancel the installer. No progress is made, I have tried scanning the hard drives for any issues and it also hangs and has no progress, device manager is currently stuck on scanning for plug and play compliant devices. Other programs like AVG disk doctor also hang and make 0 progress in scanning, defragging the harddrives also hangs and makes no progress.

I currently have 3 applications that refuse to close or make any progress.
I need help because I am absolutely stumped for the first time in awhile..

Hard Disk Sentinel (incl SSDs) trial - best instant disk commentary right on its GUI.
Post a screenshot

Or (2nd best) as you may have disk problems try this portable (can run from flash drive) program to check your disk:
Download Portable HD Tune 2.55
- Health and Error scan tabs- and post a screenshot

Failing the above you might try booting your PC from a live boot disk and checking your disk from that. Eg. Kyhi's live boot disk.

Do you routinely use disk imaging as so often recommended here?

If your physical disk checks out, then run from an admin command or Powershell prompt
chkdsk c: /scan
and post the summary result.

Appears one of my hard drives is not doing so well according to this test...

Indeed. Hope you have a disk image or appropriate backups. Sadly intensive care won't help here.

You can help to protect yourself with early warnings by running e.g. Crystal Diskinfo and setting alerts vs thresholds so you get early warning of degradation.

Further, the very act of disk imaging means each time the integrity of the whole used area of partitions imaged is checked (i.e. not the whole disk).

I've been able to save the data I am required, its not a main drive more or less for data and games that I play.
Should I remove it from the system after I've finished or?

Even with the hard drive removed I'm still experiencing issues, my main drives I use hold the drivers and OS. But things are still buggered up.

Chkdsk scan came back with 0 issues,
Windows updates I recently did tonight because I thought it was the issue initially the last update before I did these was Feb 28th with a Windows Defender update KB4052623

I noticed probably on the 8th of March that things started to get a little wonky with my system but there aren't any major updates that happened then nor any major changes.
