I would keep the solution here. Is this it???

    Yes... if you:

    1. Open Windows Explorer/File Explorer.

    2. Click the 'view' tab.

    3. Click 'Options' button at the far right hand side of the view ribbon.

    4. On the 'General' Tab, un-tick the two privacy options, and click 'Clear'.

    5. Apply/OK to exit.

The problem should have gone away by now, try creating a new folder and renaming it.

    Thanks for this tip !

For me, just clearing the "File Explorer history" solved the problem instantly.
Let's see how long until the problem comes back, if ever comes back, due to the history building up issues again?

    >>> Folder Options > General (tab) > Privacy (section) > "Clear" button

Good tip - how strange it works.
Absolutely bonkers. I've been trying to solve this problem for almost two weeks. I thought I had tried everything and was literally about to reinstall windows today. Decided to search for a solution one more time and found this post.
Created an account just to say THANK YOU.

I wonder if a recent update is causing this issue?

Scratch that. Seems to only solve the problem for a few minutes.

Thank you so so much! This also fixed it for me. My system had slowdown for months and I had no idea how to fix it. Alwaxs suspected OneDrive to be the culprit, but this solved it.

Thank you so much! I only signed up here to tell you this. :-D

I just discovered a lightning fast stable alternative to this half-baked Explorer crap from Microsoft: OneCommander
Superfast and stable dual pane file management system with intuitive interface with tabs and many many features.
