Disk Cleanup won't display system files

When I go to Disk Cleanup it will allow me to delete the files it displays, but when I click on "System Files" it changes immediately back to the desktop and I never get back into disk cleanup again to remove the Windows.old and Windows.old.000. Can I just delete the contents of those folders using delete?

With this batch script you can delete temporary files including previous installation files.

Is been over taken a lot with storage sense under setting system storage you can turn that and and clean files and it will run on its own to clear files

While I was trying to find a solution on my Chromebook and having lunch, about 45 minutes went by. When I looked at the desktop again Disk Cleanup System Files finally came on. Could the long delay have anything to do with there were 120 GB in the old installation files?

Its very slow at the best of times as it has to get it right or it could brick the system use new storage sence as it just does it on its own in the backgound so set it forget it

Also for some reason disk cleanup needs to decompress certain files to delete them (Windows compresses some older files to save space), this decompressing can take a long time especially on older hardware.
