    Open in another program

    Hello.
I'm running into problems regarding deleting, moving or re-naming files/folders ... always PDF ones.
"...file is open in another program". There is no other program open!
In Task manager it sometimes works to end Adobe Collaboration Synchronizer (2), but sometimes the problem persists.
View is on List, so no thumbnail.
What program is the culprit? And just closing it every time - or even rebooting - is not a solution.
    Is there a permanent fix?
Obviously I searched but with no avail.

    Thanks in advance

Windows version 1909, latest .. always uptodate

Hi, some useful free progs to help:
Emco Unlockit (just Google - great for deleting stubborn items on restart too)
    LockHunter
LockHunter is a free 64/32 bit tool to delete files blocked by any processes

    Thanks Dalcina,
    I will consider that.
However, I was hoping for a system solution since that should not happen. I see it more as a glitch about a program clinging to a certain file preventing it from being altered. This happens with no other files or folders usually and it shouldn't.
Is there a way of finding the core problem?

Well, such programs give you a quick way of identifying what process might be responsible. Quick, easy.

You could try the ideas here:
filesystems - Find out which process is locking a file or folder in Windows - Super User

but the comments following indicate results may be uncertain.

    Thanks,
    I'll try it.
However, I'll leave it as unsolved hoping for more responses

    Thanks

"...hoping for a system solution..." this could very well be an outside-of-Windows problem, awaiting others for more ideas, especially, PDF operations oriented.

Example thread on Adobe-related hang (older) - but just to show this may be an Adobe problem:
Windows 10 explorer preview prevents PDF delete. Is this being fixed?

Ditto on the above post. I get that issue on a machine at work. If preview pane is enabled in Explorer it prevents deletion or editing of viewed PDF.
