    Extremely High CPU Usage - Multiple system processes


    My Windows Version: Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.592)

    About 2 weeks ago, I opened a thread on these forums regarding High CPU Usage due to the Service Host: DNS Client system process. To summarize, I was getting up to 100% CPU Usage due to this process and couldn't figure out how to make it go away.

    TairikuOkami recommended I disable DNS Client, after setting my DNS servers manually. This worked at the time and I considered the issue resolved.

    However, after a week later, I still keep getting High CPU usage up to 100% due to several "Service Host" system processes. Sometimes it subsides on it's own, other times I have to play loud music to drown out the jet engine noise.

    What could be wrong this time? How could I fix it?

    Could be Windows Updates, Prefetch, Indexer, etc. Probably any Windows Service. However, it could also be a rootkit. Most of all if it doesn't show up in Task Manager. I would run malwarebytes or superantispyware just in case...

    I also scanned with ESET and malwarebytes.

    Your problem must be with certain Service Host Processes, so you need to identify which ones are the problem.
    Otherwise, currently, there are over a 100 Service Host Processes are running on my computer.
    After you identify the problemed one, you can search for a solution about it, with a better chance of finding a solution.

    Network Location Awareness:

    Collects and stores configuration information for the network and notifies programs when this information is modified. If this service is stopped, configuration information might be unavailable. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.

    Enable PID column in Task Manager, open Resource Monitor, and filter by this PID number. If lucky, You'll get some info, what is doing this service, where is it connected to etc

    In resource monitor select CPU tab. Then unfold "Services". It will show.

    I have experienced 2 situations with high CPU of services:

    ip6to4

    when I disabled the tcpip6 protocol from my NIC

    In elevated dos box: netsh int ipv6 6to4 set state disabled

    Geolocation

    Just disabled the "Geolocation Service"

    Hope this helps you to get on the right track.
