Upgraded to 1909 and the Event viewer still crashes

Unfortunately upgrading to version 1909 did not prevent the Event viewer from crashing. The administrative view survives with a few entries, but sorting by any column it crashes . . . . and always crashes when the log is large. So, to see any log entries, I clear all the logs and reboot. I would experiment with smaller log sizes but don''t know if it's possible to reduce their current max size limit.

Please use the reliability monitor to follow any issues:
Reliability Monitor is the Best Windows Troubleshooting Tool You Aren’t Using
Use Reliability Monitor to Check Windows Stability

Sometimes there are entries within the event viewer that indicate corruption.

Allow the event viewer to accumulate entries.
At the end of a week the logs may be able to be collected and scanned.

Unfortunately the articles are from 2013 and 2017 and none of the instructions including search go anywhere.

In the left lower corner search type: reliability
Use this application instead of the event viewer.

Once there are a week of event viewer files a log collector can be ran to collect computer files.
If there are problems seen then they can be troubleshooted.

Please make a new restore point:

Create System Restore Point in Windows 10

Make a backup image using Macrium and save the image to another disk drive:

Macrium Software | Your Image is Everything
Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

What were the methods used to clean the logs?

Other members may be able to comment while the new logs are being produced.

Downloaded the batch file from here to delete the logs.
I make a macrium mirror every 4 days and keep 5 copies, so I don't use system restore. Rarely had luck with them and never any problem with restoring macrium

The reliability monitor is not very reliable because it does not indicate all other issues, aside from the hundreds of mmc.exe crashes.
Not having a functioning Event Viewer, I cannot search for errors caused by the crash of Minitool and Inkscape. Please see the attached Minitool error message. And thus I can't provide any data with a planned Microsoft forum post
I can live without Minitool by replacing it with AOEMI or GParted, but Inkscape is dead in the water and is impossible to replace.

There are log collectors in another forum room.
Run each V2 and DM and upload results into this thread:
Driver Power State Failure on restart, shutdown, sleep

My event viewer also hasn't worked in the last 2 versions of windows (1903 & 1909).

    I get this:

Upgraded to 1909 and the Event viewer still crashes-image.png

But I have found that I can use/view events as long as I select it from "Computer Management". Works just fine there.

See if it works for you.
