I'm not sure if this is right, but Windows appears to be defragging my SSDs since the new build. See image:
I have turned off optimization for now to keep it from happening, but I thought that Win 10 automatically did NOT defrag SSDs? Is there a registry setting that maybe has become corrupted?

Hi, If you look at what the button says, it''s saying Optimise which means its only TRIMing the SSD and NOT defrag. As you may know, defragging an SSD is dangerous.

Just leave Defragment and Optimize Drives turned off.
I don't like the way it is implemented, as it does not differentiate between HDD and SSD when scheduling.
My suggestion is to Analyze and Defragment your HDD 2x per week and Optimize (TRIM) your SSD 1x week. (The OS will force a TRIM anyway.)
That's it.
Windows recognises your SSD as an SSD - this is shown in your screenshot.
- Windows normally trims SSDs when you run 'Optimise' on a schedule but it does defrag monthly.
- Conversely, Windows always defrags HDDs when you run 'Optimise'.

I agree with Try3, you don't need to turn it off, as it does the right method according to the device.
Hi there you can completely disable the default windows defragmentation if you do this:
Type services into the search box of W10. Open services. Find Optimize Drives and disable the service. It will no longer run, when otherwise it would run if you left your computer idle for a set amount of time (15 minutes I believe).
It is displayed correctly. It will trim SSDs and defrag HDDs. Nowhere on the OPs screenshot is defragging of SSDs indicated at all.
Sorry for the late reply. You guys are right. I ran a manual optimize on the SSDs and it performed a trim, no defrag.
I think I will mark this as solved.
