Samsung Magician Does this Look Normal?

    Hello All

Have a brand new Samsung 860 Evo 250gb for Desktop PC, hopefully all is normal, didn't turn on Over Provisioning yet, wasn't sure if i should or not, so left that alone for now, PC used almost 12-16 hours a day, then i sleep some, and wake up in the morning, PC just idles at night while i'm sleeping (is that good to do with SSD Drive?)

Just wanna make sure all is well, and then i won't worry on a thing after this lol i hope

It looks normal to me. What is Over Provisioning?

My suggestion is to change the Virtual memory from the SSD to the HDD. It will extend your SSD life.

Not sure on overprovisioning aspect, virtual memory i can take care of shortly here, otherwise everything seems to be running fine thus far.

Any file written to the SSD decrease SSD life. As pagefile.sys (virtual memory) and hibernation hiberfil.sys are huge files and are re written every time you boot.
If you don't need hibernation, turn it off.
    run powercfg.exe /h off

Hibernation off, just remembered on that command just before you posted it, Thats done, Virtual Memory will take care of asap here. Clean installed system on December 25th 2019, so little bit to finish up still, and system should be perfect and running great

Why would you cripple the system by putting Virtual Memory on the slow drive in the system. Makes no sense. The whole purpose of having an SSD is to increase system performance. Increase system performance by leaving Virtual Memory on the SSD.

Should I Disable Paging File On My SSD?

Yeah i haven't switched the Virtual Memory yet, Hibernation definitely off, think otherwise should be fine far as I know now

    Yes, turn off hibernation.

SSD reliability in the real world: Google's experience | ZDNet

The paper's second major conclusion, that age, not use, correlates with increasing error rates, means that over-provisioning for fear of flash wearout is not needed. None of the drives in the study came anywhere near their write limits, even the 3,000 writes specified for the MLC drives.
There is no need to over-provision the drive and decreasing system performance by moving the pagefile to a slower HDD is not going to extend the useful life of the SSD. I have yet to read about a single user who has ended their SSD's life by writing too much to it.

I'm not suggesting to disable Virtual Memory but setting it to a HDD.
Virtual memory is used when you don't have enough memory to hold all the required data.
OP has 16G of memory. I think he will never use the virtual memory so to move it to the HDD wont affect performance.
I have 8G, and even rendering with Autocad, or using Photoshop, my memory usage never went over 6G.
