CPU @ 100% in Task Manager.. but in error

    Hey guys
    Screenshot: Imgur

Seems to be happening since I installed Windows 10 on my machine. I am 100% sure it is in error as speedfan reports my CPU usage at 1/2% and I am seeing no problems when playing games such as CSGO and h1z1.

My motherboard does not have windows 10 drivers, however windows 10 seems to have found all my drivers.

I am not worried, but its a niggle.

If your on 64-bit Windows, installing the 64-bit versions of drivers and software might help with cpu usage. For instance you can download a 64-bit version of Chrome.

What is unity.exe and what does it do?

    Hi Swarfega,

The information pulled by task manager is incorrect, Unity is a client I use in the gaming world...
But if I had taken a screenshot at a different time, it would show another application using this usage, chrome, task manager, svchost etc, it flicks between different apps every 10-15 seconds

At last, someone else with the same problem!
I assume the performance tab also shows 100% (including when showing individual cores)? Mine does.
What does your details tab show, does it have system idle at some decent high %? Mine does, which is correct.
What I believe is happening is that of the actual % of total cpu being used, it is displaying the % of that which is being used by each process.
    Here's some example numbers:
The details tab shows 'system idle' at 90%, so in reality the CPU is 10% used.
In the processes tab, chrome shows 50% usage. In reality, what this means is that chrome is using 50% of 10%, which is 5%. I don't know what's causing this but the numbers fit this.
Process explorer seems to work ok:

In resource monitor my cpu usage shows its at 1billion%.. outrageous right? lol

I've tried a few things, that I found on the forums, but nothing works... which I assumed because the problems they had are different.

I'll have a look at resource monitor when I get home, that's a great find!
I see you have an Asrock P67 Pro, is it the Pro 3 per chance? Guess which mobo I have...
Are you overclocking? I am and task manager is reporting 3.3GHz instead of 4.2. I suspect this is the cause of the problem. I've not downloaded any mobo drivers yet from Asrock, have you?

    OKAY!

    Now are getting somewhere...

    Yes I have a asrock p67 Fatal1ty Professional (ASRock > Fatal1ty P67 Professional)
I am overclocked from 3.2 to 4.8, Task manager also reports 3.2ghz, but I think that just gets its info from the model, not the actual clocks...

If it is an issue, maybe a chipset driver will fix it... however there is no chipset drivers available for my mobo since windows 8.. and no bios update since 2012 either

Someone here at work has task manager showing the actual clock rate on his laptop, it's changing all the time due to speedstep.
No drivers since 7 for me and the bios situation is bad too.
However, there may be some chipset drivers direct from intel, I can't try these for another few hours

Resource monitor is showing a silly % here too. No Intel drivers to download for me as far as I can tell.
This is a clean install, which I was hoping would solve this issue, but it hasn't
