I need help with slow boot times on windows 10 1903

I have recently updated from 1607 and my boot time was consistently 10 seconds, every single time without fail.

Since updating to 1903 my boot time is now 55 seconds and I am getting errors in event viewer over boot times, this is what I have done so far.


- Run sfc scannow which has come back completely clean

- Tried clean boot and disabled all known startup services and there is no difference whatsoever.

- Tried 3rd party software (bootracer) and there is no indication of any startup programs causing slowdown and it doesn't tell me what else could be causing the issue.

Every 10 or so reboots it has a random boot up where it actually does boot within 10 seconds and works like it did before, however for the most part it is just doing this.

Is there any way someone could help me find out what could be causing this issue? It might seem insignificant to some but to me it's pretty annoying and points to an issue behind the scenes because clearly something must be causing this.

Note that you will have a new set of drivers- it is possible one of those is causing the delay.

How can I figure out what the results mean once I have ran the toolkit?

Therein lies the difficulty. It's technical. See the threads as I suggested to assess that.

So I ran the toolkit and I cannot understand what is causing this, I ran the windows performance toolkit but I have no idea how to read the results, from what I can see the delay is coming in the pre session init stage.


I have read numerous guides on how to interpret the results but still can't understand it.

I have an Asus 2 in 1 laptop, had a 3tb sata drive. Upgraded windows 10, the system just about died regarding speed, it was like waiting for the ketchup to come out of the bottle.

I bought an NVME drive, and installed win10 1903 to it, and it boots in 5 seconds, and everything just zips. I left its old Sata slow drive as storage and honestly never use it.

I use an SSD though and my drive speeds are fantastic, makes no sense that it would just go from 8 seconds bootup on 1607 to 55+ seconds on 1903.

Unfortunately it can. You get a new set of drivers with a new build, so if the problem is related to one of those, for example, you might need to use the previous version if feasible.

Just a possibility.. if it's driver related (and we don't know):

You can examine what drivers are loaded with e.g.
Autoruns (free from MS) - with checkbox disable
and see all installed
How to See a List of All Installed Windows Drivers

Note: we have no idea what your PC is or how old it is, I believe.

I have no idea if it's driver related or not because I can't figure out how to read this trace.

Specs are i7 3970x, intel 520 ssd as main drive, Samsung 850 evo SSD as backup drive and a seagate barracuda 2tb as my third drive, 32gb Hyperx beast ram.
