Reliability History (Monitor) taking a very long time to list results.

My Reliability History was instantaneous before when generating the report; but now, it sticks on this screen for over a minute and a half at minimal:



I cleared the Event Viewer logs with command: for /F "tokens=*" %1 in ('wevtutil.exe el') DO wevtutil.exe cl "%1" because I thought the two apps share the same log files but it didn't make a difference in how slowly/quickly the report was being generated.

Reliability History still takes forever to generate the report even when the log files were cleared. Is there a way to "Reset" the Reliability History Monitor?

If the logs are clear (there will be a few remaining that are in use and cannot be cleared), and the Reliability History is still taking a long time to load, with apparent hangs during the process, you may want to consider an In-Place Repair to clean things up. As you know, it will keep everything you have, and just re-do the system files. Takes 20-30 mins, plus any tweaks you want to put back on. Often, an In-Place will cure a lot of ills with little effort and time spent.

Every thing was pretty much cleared and a few informative events and a audit success were the only things showing. I just can't believe that the app (Reliability Monitor) doesn't have a "Reset" feature like all the other installed apps.

After running the command, the Reliability History still took forever to generate the report but it does eventually display the results.

sfc /scannow comes back clean and the rest of the system runs very smooth. I can't really justify running a In-Place Repair to see if it would fix what I don't really see as a problematic symptom of the Reliability History App. I just remember the Reliability History use to open the results almost instantaneously instead of taking a couple of minutes to display the report.

Furthermore, this only started to happen a few Cumulative Updates ago, but I don't recall exactly which one to be specific.








I found the problem:



After clicking "clear all problem reports" the monitor returned to opening instantaneously!

I had problems listed all the way back to 2018 in the report that have since then been resolved and were just cluttering up the report. I should have scrolled the report down before I took the screenshot; but believe me, there were problems dating back to 2018 in the report.

Great! That piece of Reliability I didn't think of to check. Glad you stumbled on it.

FWI, Reliability History is not a Store App, it's a Win32 app, like Task Manager, Event Viewer, all those semi-ancient Windows goodies, so there is no "Reset App" like a Store App would have.

That explains perfectly why it doesn't have a "Repair/Reset" feature then. That makes sense now. When the report was hanging, before I found the fix, after it eventually did open I thought what would happen if I found a report within the report?

Sure enough, it had some kind of report problem cache that was hanging the application because it took so long to read the extended cache report.

No, actually your reply to the thread got me to thinking outside the normal parameters of the problem and eventually led to a solution -------- so Thank You indirectly as I'm sure you would have eventually had me do that.
