Why is restart on Windows 10 way slower than cold boot?

Reboots and restarts only take c. 15 secs with a SSD installed. I turned off fast startup which can the source of various problems and often turn off the PC rather than sleep if the PC isn't going to be used for while.

We did understand you. All we are trying to tell you is that it's technically impossible to make restart as fast as Fast Startup.

Why? I simply asked if restart being slower than cold boot was a deliberate feature. Maybe some of you understood this but not you Altae going by this post.

This.... tentatively, may just be, indirectly, the best post I've seen on this forum. I've had such issues with wake - ever since I completely disabled fast startup in both BIOS and Windows I've had zero issues and everything's working beautifully.

So, thank you Steve - wait you see it'll blow up now

The quoted sentence is from post a you made in this thread. So you did not ask if reboot could be made as fast as fast startup? I told you it's technically impossible and you replied by assuming I did not understand you. A few posts earlier I even explained why reboot by definition has to be slower than fast startup because these two serve different purposes. But hey, you don't have to believe what I write, sorry I took my time trying to answer your question which, according to you, I did not understand

I've had problems for while with my desktop PC hanging at boot with the spinning circle. On the advice of Gigabyte, I turned off Fast Boot in the BIOS and have had no problems since. I now have Fast Boot off in the BIOS and fast startup disabled in Windows 10. My cold boot time on this SSD based 2012 PC is still about 15-20 secs and the fast boot options make hardly any difference as far as I can tell. There may be a benefit if your PC boots from a hard drive.

Oh I definitely noticed a colossal difference in cold boot with fast start on (SSD 500Mb). Windows loading logo appeared at most for half a second with it on, otherwise spinning icon was there for about... 5 seconds?

But I'd much much much rather have sleep/wake/stability and overall outstanding system performance which I have now at the cost of a slightly slower cold boot which I will rarely to never use anyway.
