Running Win 10 on a 5400 RPM 8MB Cache Mechanical Drive is like trying to win a horse race with a 3 legged horse. You NEED a SSD

For best performance, get an SSD, you won't regret your decision...SSD's are cheap. Mechanical drives are really slow, especially in a laptop environment. You will not believe the performance difference, trust me...

How do you know that the Seagate is damaged?
Did the disk check found bad blocks, bad clusters or bad sectors?

Yes, you can replace the Seagate with the Toshiba.

A SSD will do a big improvement on your laptop.
You can buy a small (120G) SSD for windows and programs and replace the ODD with a HDD caddy. You will have the speed of a SSD and the space of a HDD at low cost. (that is what I have in my laptop)

These are the SSD I'm using Crucial BX500

Yes, all them can replace a laptop HDD.
Yes, you can make partitions, format etc as any HDD.
As your HDD is dying, don't clone the HDD into the SSD. Do a clean install (skip entering the key, you don't need it)

You didn't tell how much space you want.
Does your laptop has a ODD (CD/DVD)?
If you want a big disk space, you can buy a small SSD (120G), a 1T HDD and a caddy to replace the ODD.
You install Win 10 and programs on the SSD and use the HDD for data.
That is what I have in my desktop and on my laptop.
It's a way to have the speed of a SSD and the space of a HDD at low cost.
I can give you instructions on what to buy and what to do.
