145gb Missing Hard Drive Space due to System & Reserved

Hi , my problem is i am missing 145gb from probably old windows 10 upgrade files in System Files .

i am running Windows 10 Pro 64bit Version 1903 (OS Build 18362.356). Original OS was a clean install on a new pc and a Samsung NVme 500gb ssd around mid-February 2019 , so no Windows.old file. I have also deleted windows.edb indexing file which i had moved to D: drive and was around 70gb , so this 145gb must be something else. I have disabled hibernation , i have deleted all restore points and set system protection to minimum size (also tried disabling-turning off it just in case) , i keep 4gb as virtual memory

i have tried all the tips you have recommended on similar issues (Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup ,sfc /scannow , Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth , sfc /scannow , Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase) and still nothing happen. Just before i wrote this msg i tried turning off indexing and search properties on all my hdd's still the problem persists

WinDirStat shows 75,3gb should be my total C:\Drive usage , then a 7-8gb system files + 4gb virtual memory + 4,5gb system protection should be the typical usage. What can i do to avoid to fresh windows install ? i have tons of vst installed and folders set up just as i wanted so i can get some work done , it would really save my life if you can give me a solution without having to do a clean re-install. now i must search what this C:\Windows\System32\config\TxR (127,1gb) folder is !!

from a quick google search im doing now i am seing it is the REGTRANS-MS Files eating space, will post a solution if i find one since from what i've seen many have similar missing hdd space issues so this might help them

it is safe to delete all .regtrans-ms and .blf files in the C:\Windows\System32\config\TxR folder , so i unchecked hide protected system files in Explorer options and with administrative rights was able to go into the folder and delete them all except for 7 files (around 15mb) which where currently in use as a windows prompt told me ,

now i have 389gb free of 465gb again !! thank you all and hope this helps anyone with similar issues

As these files are associated with the indexing service it may well be worth running the 'Search and Indexing' troubleshooter in 'Settings > Update & Security >Troubleshoot'.

Just in case this helps anybody, though this thread is stale...

My same issue turned to be cause by MS SQL Server 2019 log files. Unless running with elevated permissions, WinDirStat is only able to show them as unknown files, and if I recall, it wouldn't even tell me where they were in the folder hierarchy. I downloaded a TreeSize Pro trial. It asks for elevated permissions automatically and then I could see these almost 700gb of dmp files under C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL15.SQLDEV1\MSSQL\Log\Polybase\dump.

Similar if I then run WinDirStat as admin, I can see the same thing.

Even Windows Explorer is fooled and doesn't include these files in it's metrics for used space unless run as admin.

As far as my SQL issue, that's another story, but at least I know where my disk space is going. I can provide more details if it's helpful to anybody.
