    Autoruns?

Does disabling a service in Autoruns prevent that service from ever running again or only during startup and until the service is launched manually? Never fully understood this.

Well this is what the brief Help says:
If you don't want an entry to activate the next time you boot or login you can either disable or delete it. To disable an entry uncheck it. Autoruns will store the startup information in a backup location so that it can reactivate the entry when you recheck it. For items stored in startup folders Autoruns creates a subfolder named Autorunsdisabled. Check a disabled item to re-enable it

You will completely disable a service from Autoruns utility.

So even if you run the program associated with the disabled service the program cannot start it? I thought this would be a handy way to prevent services from running in the background until I actually needed that program. With Windows services you can somewhat do that by setting services to manually run but Autoruns does more than just services..

    Hi,
I just removed an old item left over from a bad corsair link 4 uninstall
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
There it was sitting there finally deleted it.

Not sure I would use autoruns though most are simple tasks using task manager you can usually kill it.

No programs wont enable the disable service they use but some program may prompt you to do so.
