    Startup

My computer is running slow and it's 5 years old and it's a i5 4690. I have 22 startup programs that are enabled and 6 that are disable. I don't know if these startup programs are making my computer slow and I don't know which ones to disable if that's the case or maybe I need a new and faster computer?

That is a greater than usual number, but it's all relative. And it depends a great deal on what they are. If you could post a pic (2 if necessary to get them all), it would help us to analyze a lot better. Otherwise, you'll get a lot of well intentioned guesses. Ok? Little more on your specs would help, too. Like mem, disk, all the hardware stuff, and what version of Windows.

Try a Clean Boot, see if it makes a difference:

Can I disable all my startups?

I'm am running an SSD drive for my C:\ with 21 startup programs. Would it hurt to disable all that I can. I don't really understand this much but if I disable a startup that I need then it will just startup when I need it and will just take a few seconds longer. It wouldn't hurt to just disable all the startup that it will allow me to disable?

I would not disable any from MS, all others you can, they will start when you open the program that they belong to

Did you try the Clean Boot as I suggested?

Could you please define what you mean by 'slow'?

    E.g.
    slow to boot
slow in responding when launching programs
    slow when browsing the internet
    slow to copy files
    etc

Please post a screenshot of your task manager when your PC is nominally idle showing resource usage (CPU, Disk, RAM, internet) organising any column of interest high to low.

How much free RAM do you have?
How much free disk space do you have on each of your partitions esp. C: ?
Have you ever modified your page file parameters?

History: when do this slowness start? Can you relate that to any change to your PC?

At the present time we know nothing that would necessarily relate to your startup programs, thus making changes to those is effectively a stab in the dark at this point. Facts and figures and more info required; please answer these points carefully and with any further info that may help.

That said, your startup list suggests you have a wide variety of programs installed.

    Thanks.

Personally I would treat it like an overhaul/tuneup of a vehicle. If the drive is over five years old, replace it with a SSD. Do a Clean Install of the OS and then put those programs that you have used back on that drive.

All My C:\ on all my computers are SSD drives. So if I have an SSD drive that is 5 years old I should replace it? Of course my Data is on a different drive which isn't a SSD drive.
