Desktop Messes Up Everytime I Create New Folder/Shortcut

So, everytime I create a new folder/shortcut to the desktop, this (see pic) happens. Can someone explain why?

Ok, so whenever I right click and create a new folder or shortcut, it messes up the desktop. The top left corner, you see the icons. It does something to the wallpaper.

I don't see any wallpaper. Can you post a before picture so I (we?) can see the difference.

All I can see out of the ordinary, besides no wallpaper, is 4 icons are selected (have a brownish background).

Yeah, the 4 that you see the brownish background is what happens. Let me see if I can actually get it to do it again.

You don't have any wallpaper, you have a solid color.

Do you use a Dark Theme? If so, try changing it to something else, log off, log on then select the Dark Theme again.
