DISM fix for recent Windows Update/WindowsDefender Platform corruption

Windows 10 SFC /scannow Can't Fix Corrupted Files After Update

This is a question regarding the recent file corruption that occurred after a Windows anti malware update caused Windows Defender Platform errors that are first noticed when running sfc /scannow. Users had to run a DISM repair to fix their PC's. I was one of many people on here who only discovered I even had this issue because after clean installing Windows I ran an sfc scan and there were errors that sfc couldn't fix.
The issue was solved for me by running DISM to repair the component store and then SFC again to fix the errors. All is back to normal again now.
This whole experience though has left me with a question. There will be many people who at the moment don't even know they have this corruption because they never run an SFC scan..maybe they've never even heard of System File Checker.
If you were to continue ignoring this error without using DISM to repair it or are unaware of the problem. Would it prevent a user from using the Reset this PC option in Settings/Recovery any time in the future?
Would the Windows Disc Image corruption that Im presuming prevented SFC from being able to fix the issue also prevent a user from being able to use the Reset this PC to method to reinstall Windows because that also would need to use the Windows Disc Image

You'd hope ms updates for defender would fix it's self seeing those are the ones that borked it's self.
Corruption was defender files only wasn't it ?

I thought the corruption caused by the antimalware windows update might have also prevented a user from being able to install Windows using Reset this PC at some point in the future. I wondered if DISM would have to be used because the image used by Reset this PC might have been corrupted too by the antimalware Windows Update.
Are regular SFC scans a good idea for every user to run maybe weekly.
Lets say for example there was another type of file corruption error that System File Checker couldn't fix.
Do they cause problems with things such as Reset PC if they aren't fixed with a DISM repair.
Or am I misunderstanding the way System File Checker works?

Good test would be to check now and if some corruption is there then check in a week or two and see if updates sort it out.

SFC will only check and repair corrupted or modified system files if able.

If SFC cannot fix them due to component store corruption (what SFC uses), then you can use the DISM command to repair the component store, and try SFC again afterwards.

I'd say there's no need to run SFC until needed.

Thanks for that Brink. You've just confirmed to me that Reset this PC uses a totally different image than what sfc uses to check and find corruptions-so when sfc finds corruption and DISM repairs it..its using a totally separate image. That's what I was curious about
