Windows boot very slow(screen with logo and circle made of dots 2 min)

    Hello!

I have recently been experiencing a problem with my boot up. The boot up seems to be stuck at the loading screen with the windows logo and the dots made of circles. it takes about 2 minutes to get to the log in screen. I have even tried a fresh windows install to no avail. below are my specs:

    i7 8700 K
    Z370 Strix E
    32 gb corsair DDR4 3000 mhz
    GTX1080 Ti
    Samsung NVme 512 GB
    Western 750 GB HDD

I have even removed the HDD in order to see if that's the problem but it still persists. I even tried many other solutions online and I still can't get it fixed. I think this started when I changed a power saving state in my BIOS (something with s4 and s5) because my mouse's lights were still on even after shut down, and I wanted to power off all my usbs. When i switched back the setting to disabled, the long boot up time didn't go away. Any thoughts?

for what it's worth, I have also made a boot performance analysis, and in the analysis the boot times seem to be very fast! but that doesn't get reflected in reality.

Open task manager choose startup that gives you the BIOS time and impact of everything in start

my problem lies on within the windows initialization phase, my explorer startup and bios times are not the issue here.

Hi @MindMint and Welcome to Tenforums.

most of windows 10 slow boot experience are caused by driver. so first I suggest you update all your drivers.

If this didn't solve your problem, the take a boot trace, so we can analyze what happens during the boot process:

you can use this tutorial to take a boot trace.

@MindMint 45 Gig is too big for a boot trace of 2 min boot delay.

Make sure to not enable all the the profiles in Windows Performance Recorder. Just enable the "First Level Triage" and make sur you select only one iteration:

ok so i was able to bring it down to 10 Gb :P apparently I forgot to log into my PC.. should I zip it and upload it and write the link here?

so, the time where the screen with the windows logo and the dot circle appear have apparently not been recorded.. this is very strange.. I could even make a video of the process, it takes 2 minutes.. this is not reflected in the trace file.

the link for the tracer file is as follows:

    WeTransfer

"I have recently been experiencing a problem with my boot up."

Was it running well? Did you had a look at the update history to see if any driver has been updated?

I've seen in someplace that the NVidia are having problems with WU.
Try to remove the GTX1080 Ti and use the internal graphics. If it boot normally, you know that GTX1080 Ti is the one that is generating the delay.

    Hello!

I have tried your method and I didn't have any success with it.. I am still stuck with the same problem.. guess I just need to adapt to it. Funny thing is that the startup time is 20 times longer than that of my laptop, although my PC is a real powerhouse
