    Thank You.

I did realize that after doing a little looking as well which is why I thought that I needed to go with the the Windows 10 option. But there are quite a few different versions there and I don't want to download the wrong one. I realize that I need to go with the Windows 10 Home but other than that, I am at a loss. sfc /scannow & windows resource protection issue-image.png

April 18 Win 10 - you can check the details of the iso once you've downloaded it if you wish (Tutorial available).

If you try to start the in-place repair with an incompatible iso you'll get an error message, albeit not helpfully worded.

Thank You, I will download that one and just wait until the download is complete and then follow the directions that I found on this site for doing the in-place repair.

    Simple version:
    boot to normal mode
    rt click, mount the iso
open the newly created drive letter in file explorer
    double click setup.exe

And best to make sure you have a current disk image before making any major change to your PC... just in case.

Thanks! I must have been looking at the wrong instructions. I was looking at this page.... Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

What you are stating will be so much easier

I just turn on my computer as usual and right click the .iso to mount it and then look for the setup file and follow the steps from there. Thanks So Very Much.

The file is still downloading. Files take a long time to download (we live in the middle of nowhere and the internet is slow), but I will follow those steps as soon as I can and let you know how it went.

I did make an complete backup image of the hard drive with Acronis True Image last night and will do so again before following these steps.

It's actually the same thing- but the tutorial covers other media, and shows all the screens for the actual upgrade procedure once setup.exe is running.

Note: you can attempt the upgrade repair and NOT accept updates as part of it. That way, if download is slow, you
    a. Avoid problems with getting the updates
    b. Try it out faster
    c. Don't waste data allowance (if applicable) and it fails.

Great suggestions! I will just avoid the updates for now and then take care of those afterwards. This way, as you stated, I can hopefully get things fixed more quickly and then just take care of the updates later. :)

I will try downloading it again and hopefully this time it will work

We had storms started moving through again and we lost power so I have to start the download all over again - ugggg..... Hopefully, this time the power stays on and I don't have to try downloading that file again. Won't be able to get to doing the repair with that file until around noon tomorrow since I have an appointment tomorrow morning. Will let you know how things go and I do hope that I don't get the same errors that I did with the first download.

I have downloaded that file again, and just tried right clicking on it, selecting mount and then clicking on the setup file with the same results as yesterday.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

In case the errors are different here are screen shots of each of them again. sfc /scannow & windows resource protection issue-capture5.jpg

I did find the media creation tool for version 1803 - but when I click on it, I just get a screen to install the current media creation tool which is for version 1903. I do have version 1903 as an .iso on my computer but I am not sure I can use that one.

There is a (not very good) way of verifying the integrity of your iso file:
How to Check Windows 10 ISO File Integrity

There's the iso downloader at the end of Post 2 here noting
Windows 10 English International version means it is in British English, also known and delivered as Windows 10 EN-GB. Windows 10 English is then the US English version, also known and delivered as EN-US.

Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk

    sfc /scannow & windows resource protection issue-1.jpg
In the previous dialogues I selected Win 10 and build 1803.

The media creation tool is not designed to download a fixed build.
I do have version 1903 as an .iso on my computer but I am not sure I can use that one.
Using that would be an upgrade to 1903. Some regard 1903 as a little premature, some are happy with it.

I did select the regular English both times so I know that is not the issue.

I downloaded and installed that hash tag thing and these are the results. sfc /scannow & windows resource protection issue-image.png

I'm not sure where I go to find the information for the hash comparison

I will follow the information on creating that bootable PE on the second link now. - using the Win14393PESE_x64 ISO v170116 download

I can't help you there- it's a matter of searching and checking as the article says... not seen anything else.

Kyhi's disk is a great tool. The reason that info is now hidden on the site and instructions (under Software and Apps) are to build your own is that downloading from Toolslib became unreliable.

People had some success using Free Download Manager (which helps with erratic links).

There's also UUP DUMP - choose carefully!
Browse known builds - UUP dump
