Do you regularly run the disk cleaning program?

    .
    Yes.

I always meticulously maintain my systems. I also have used Ccleaner for more than a decade too in conjunction with Disk cleanup.

There's really no need to 'remove' Cortana. I find if I disable 'Hey Cortana' RAM usage (and as per comment about battery use) CPU use reduces. Then simply hide its icon or search box so it doesn't appear on the task bar. Simple.

And things change in 1903 with search being separate from Cortana, which is then voice activated only, according to what I've read.

I know it's a little radical and there is no way back.
In the privacy settings I had disabled almost everything so Cortana doesn't work. So why keep something I don't trust or use?

'Cos you're hacking system files- like trying to remove IE. And it'll be replaced on any upgrade (feature update or in-place repair). So why bother? And there could be side-effects. Did you note Winaero's warning?
Caution: Uninstalling Cortana breaks the Windows 10 Start Menu and probably Search so don't use this if you use the native menu. You will not be able to get it working back easily. You will not be able to-reinstall it quickly without using the genuine install.wim file. For most users, this means that Cortana will be removed from Windows 10 permanently. Think twice before you will continue.

You're absolutely right. But I don't like the idea of having a spy in my computer that see everything I do or even listen what I talk.
Most people don't care. I do.

If you disable Hey Cortana it's not listening to anything. If you don't want MS to get your info, please, never ever create a file with any personal information in it that isn't encrypted to military standards- which means you should only use your PC to store encrypted files. Never ever edit anything on your PC 'cos that means you've decrypted it... and then MS will assuredly get your data...

See what I mean? It's not about Cortana listening- Windows is by MS, so they could be uploading any of your data at any time.

Oh, and please don't access any financial sites on your PC... just in case...

Point being- Cortana is just one possible way- and then MS would have to filter endless audio to pick out something useful...

It's a matter of getting the right perspective. Of course, you could try writing your own secure OS..

    Hi,
Last I noticed cortana now shows using zero resources instead of always showing using some thing even if only 16mb
So yeah 1903 is different than any other version thankfully.

I've disabled cortana before and bee still showed using 16mb's lol but yeah search is useless by win-s/.. unless going to settings page search which worked.
