What HDD maintenance programs do you use?

I just came across Disk Checkup by PassMark software. PassMark DiskCheckup - SMART hard drive monitoring utility

What do you use for accurate regular HDD health checks?

Hard Disk Sentinel (includes SSDs) provides monitoring but requires a license (giveaways are periodically available).

It gives the best textual description of the state of a drive- and even its connections on occasion- I've seen.

Crystal Diskinfo (free) can be set to generate alarms on health and temperature.

None, because I have an SSD installed.

I check occasionally using Hard Disk Sentinel, used it since 2006, probably the best drive diagnostic program there is IMO. I don't monitor unless there appears to be a problem.

Windows 10 itself does regular scheduled checks, probably based on some of the SMART data, dunno.
SMART data is known not to be particularly reliable but it is something.

However you cannot anticipate random failures in the electronics part of an HDD which has accounted for most recent failures on mine.

Disk imaging + monitoring do go rather well together. Routine disk imaging is in itself a check on the integrity of the used part of the disk as well. The images can be restored to a new disk should the drive fail.

    This is easy...

Thumbs up for Hard Disk Sentinel.

If you don't have a quality SSD as your boot drive, it is an experience to behold.
    Prices have dropped considerably.

    Please consider it.

I certainly do, please see My Computer specs. I'm using a 3TB HDD for games and storage and a 3TB external HDD for Macrium images. I have a Samsung EVO 860 for my most favored games. I want to replace both 3TB HDD's with SSD's.
