Disk Cleanup

Disk Cleanup does not uninstall updates, if it did we would all be in trouble. That functionality is just not built into Disk Cleanup.

That is an incredible number.

You do realise that anything called a Cumulative update is superceded entirely by its next version?
- So for the routine CUs you only need to get the latest one for your version number 1803 [and you do not need any CUs for older versions]
- Similarly, for something called [just for example] .Net CU you would only need the latest one if there was more than one available.

I generally get:-

Monthly or twice monthly - a CU
- They are listed in Windows 10 update history which contains links to details of each one
- There is invariably an article about each one in this forum and it contains download links so you can avoid searching the MS update catalog every time
- Both the above identify if any SSU is needed and they provide links to it

Every few months - an SSU update
- This must always be installed before the CU

monthly - Flash
- There is often an article about each one in this forum and it contains download links so you can avoid searching the MS update catalog every time

monthly - MRT
- This is always called KB890830
- MRT info and latest download link
- KB890830 MRT in Microsoft Update Catalog
It often provides two installation files
- Delta [much smaller] so if you know you were previously up to date you can just install this
- larger one so if you are not sure whether or not you installed the previous month's update you can install this one

often twice daily - WD definitions update
- Not in the update catalog
- If you go without updates for a week it can be worth just downloading the current set from Get the latest definitions - download lists page MS MPC or directly from the relevant link Windows Defender definitions updates to date - 32-bit or Windows Defender definitions updates to date - 64-bit

once in a blue moon - WD platform update
- I have sometimes found that the next WD definitions update performs the platform update at the same time
- At other times I have used WUMgr [below] to get a download link specifically for the platform update so I can download it on its own.

I update manually because
- I have three 64 bit Windows 10 computers that need the same updates so I download once & use three times.
- I like to make a new system image before any CU just in case it proves to be a problem.
