Windows 10 Refuses to do the Scheduled Defrag Despite on Admin Side.

I have my computer to defrag along a weekly shtick schedule but no matter what, it seems to refuse to execute the defrag since "To defrag the system, log onto an Administrator account," followed by an Access denied prompt, (This in spite of the fact that the side of the user Account I log into is indeed the user account, at least in terms of what the Users list shows.) This is the second computer to do this to me, (first it was my laptop with a single user account, now it's my main tower,) and it's important that I fix this for my main tower since I'm not around much to do it manually, (especially since this thing is holding a 2 TB and 8 TB drives respectively for important office work.) Anyone know what's causing this? I set the computer to schedule a defragging session weekly, so I don't understand why it is refusing to execute as instructed even when logged into the Admin Account, so any information about what to change or do will help, thanks.

Hi,Have you tried to perform a manual defrag, with the user account you use in the scheduled task? Also, look at the Windows system logs it can give you a clue on what didn't work?Regards.

    Yes to answer for the most part on both computers, (the laptop with a single user account and the Tower with now 3 User accounts,) I have manually defragged the system, though I may not have direct set it in Event viewer above default options;

Outside of that, for the latter part, I cannot seem to find the specified error or warning, due to the fact that recently I just had to reinstall a bunch of programs provided by Microsoft, and so all the errors and warnings seem to overlap against this supposed specific error or warning to look out for, (to which I unfortunately do not know what I am to look for specifically,) so if you should know what I am to look for for the latter, please let me know thanks.

Well Contrary to the Error pop-up that showed on my screen last night I have this:

Seems to be based on a "System User" to which I did not create on any of these computers, or this one of those hidden User accounts like "Administrator"?

You can look in Event viewer, Application log, Source - Defrag to see defrag results.

The System account is an account created by & only for Windows to use. It is normal for the Defrag task to have that System entry.

I am pretty confused about just what you are doing because if you are using the default Defrag task, i.e you are using C:\Windows\System32\dfrgui.exe to manage your defragging-optimisation, then there is no UI for you to see "followed by an Access denied prompt" in.
    - Are you trying to test something out using a Command window and defrag.exe commands?
    - When running Defrag using a Command window, the Command window must be opened elevated - it is not sufficient to have logged in to an Admin account. You can do this by right-clicking on the shortcut to open a Command window then selecting Run as Admin.

Well for that it's the simple option of selecting the Defrag And Optimize Windows option for the hard drive under properties. To put it simply, the most I have it involved for in terms of implementation are as simple as the UI under the tools options of the hard drives, or otherwise:

I haven't done anything above that, yet last night I had received the error regarding necessity of Admin Login/Credentials needed for an Auto defrag of the system, followed by an access denied prompt. No CMD or Powershell is involved otherwise, it's seemingly just my windows 10 pro is just acting up or something to that action. Additionally I'm getting similar strange behaviors from my Explorer.exe File explorer "Crashing" and forcing a restart of the entire Explorer.exe whenever I right click on the Hard drive directories themselves. Though I think I was going to pull up about that tidbit in a different topic, I may feel that both of these are linked somehow.

    1) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    2) sfc /scannow
    3) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    4) chkdsk /scan
    5) wmic recoveros set autoreboot = false
    6) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    7) There is a log collector that is used in another forum.
Run the BETA log collector and upload into this thread:

Windows 10 has scheduled hard drive defrags by default. The one you looked at that showed as completed is probably that one. If you look at Task Scheduler, you'll see:

You'll also notice it runs under SYSTEM.
