Hi folks
The real answer to this question is "How long is a piece of String"
If you have different versions of a product then you need different versions of any callable libraries.
There's a partial way around this which would be to create a complete module with all the binary code so it wouldn't need to have dynamic callable code - however the resulting module would be larger and you'd still need the specific library at module creation / install time.
There must be better ways of creating software without needing all these versions of run time libraries to exist on the PC - especially if it's a PC that isn't used for program compilation and development.
What that is -- no idea !!! maybe back to an older idea of using interpretive rather than compiled code -- modern day interpreters can run very fast and efficiently although then you need to have the source code -- SAP for instance still has Interpretive code in its ABAP stack -- SAP one of the biggest software companies on the planet. You might also be able to do a partial compilation so you don't need to give people the source code - object runs as a sort of "Meta Machine code" which works on any platform.
