Encoding Video File with my Intel I7 System

    Hello All

Starting to Get into backing up some family home videos that i previously put onto DVD discs, Last time i ran Handbrake it made my fans run so loud, thought PC was gonna blow up lol, I run on Balanced power mode in Windows 10 Pro, Stock Cooling Fan for CPU, EVGA 650 G3 power supply, 1 Rear exhaust fan, Geforce 1050 video card

Is it best to just save up more money and do this project whenever i do a full system upgrade/or upgrade video card in my Asus G11CD-K, cooling probably not the best in this system, but i do my best with it

    Thank you all
    in Advance

P.S. Maybe i'll try it in the morning with nothing else running, and see how it goes one more time, hopefuly works fine

I've been doing video editing back to the VCD days and it may take a while on a slow machine but I've never had one overheat. Is your CPU overclocked?

Not Overclocked, didn't overheat per say, and very loud fans as well. But got up to around 80C briefly during my last run of handbrake, Not sure what the temp of video card was, but i'll run hardwareinfo this time and keep eye on it, last time i just monitored the CPU temps with Realtemp 3.70 program.

Machine isn't that slow per say, slower than latest 6 and 8 core systems though

Can look into if i got any extra money left and maybe do a full system upgrade sometime soon, but also not hurrying to do that yet as this point

I use Core Temp to monitor my i7 and use FFmpeg for most of my video work. 80˚C or more is typical on my machine when working hard, but as Core Temp shows a Tj Max of 100˚C it's nothing to worry about. Video processing is very cpu intensive, I don't think you'll find the video card is doing much work.

Oh ok, mainly got worried due to the very loud fan noise (guess thats normal, and the temp lol) but then again not that hard of machine user most of the time. But starting to do more things than i didn't use to, as might as well take advantage of I7 strengths, and do more advanced things off and on.

Might look into Core temp as well

H.265(Nvidia NVenc) HQ 1080P30surround, the dvd is another family Christmas party one from years ago, maybe too high of a quality, not sure lol, new with this stuff, as only used to use a TV DVD Recorder for years, drive died in that machine, so decided to try using PC to make digital files of these

When's the last time you blew the dust out of the fans?

Could it be the fan is dying? You have plenty of machine for video editing, I use a 3 core AMD with no problems.

When I installed my newer Storage Drive into system a few days ago i also used my Electric duster to clean every single fan i could get to. Might have to attempt removing video card to clean its fan though sometime

Though i did try second file encoding on I7 Laptop this morning that is running Avast Free Antivirus, and fans stayed in normal settings, starts to wonder if i got Defender too high on settings

Used Configuredefenderx64 when i switched to Defender on the Desktop, and set the followings settings

    PUA Protection-Enabled
    Cloud Time Limit at 50s
    Cloud Protection Level High
ASR settings: Block Executable Content from email client and webmail--Enabled
Impede JavaScript and VBSScript to launch executables: Enabled

((Laptops running latest version of Avast Free 19.3.2369) Temps with Coretemp showed for CPU max 76C)) with same encoding settings as a Desktop

Hmmms more to check out later
